Winter is still hanging on

I spoke too soon when I said earlier that the snow would be gone in a couple of weeks. We had two inches of new snow yesterday and another inch or so today. Last year the ice went out at Nenana on April 23 and this year it is still over 40 inches thick there. The ice in Galena is about 42 inches thick. The latest forecast is that breakup could be as late at May 21. Normally the ice goes out in Galena in the second week of May. I took a few pictures today of a pretty heavy snowfall here but don’t think I’ll post them as the quality isn’t that great. I’ll post more later.
