This is our Police Chief checking the water level at the pilings. 126 feet is when the water is at the edge of the bank at this location.
This is ice running at the edge of the river bank, anything above this is considered flood stage.
This ice piled up while we were standing here. Normally this is 20 feet or more above the river level.
Taken earlier today when the water was at 124 feet. This is the road at the west end of the runway.
The river has reached 125 feet which is the first stage at which we take action for flooding. People are starting to move out of the “Old Town” site in Galena to get to higher ground. The riverwatch team landed here and informed us of a large ice jam just downriver.
