Christmas at home, heading into the new year.

Lynn and I had a quiet Christmas at home with Snowball. Christmas day we were able to talk to all of our children which was nice. Other than our usual run workout we spent the day catching up with people on the phone and generally taking it easy. I took the dog out early Christmas morning and due to the clear sky I was able to get a good view of the moon. Kind of rare these days with all the overcast skies and ice fog we’ve been having. I got my camera out and spent some time trying to get a good shot of the moon.

More instant pot experiments

We decided to make a moose roast in the instant pot on Christmas and it worked out really well. Sorry I don’t have any pictures, maybe next time I’ll get some shots of how we prepared it. We basically took a frozen 2.5 pound moose roast and made a broth of vegetables, water, and apple cider vinegar along with some other spices. Ran it on high pressure for 90 minutes and let the pressure drop naturally. It was cooked perfectly! Going to try another one on New Years with a slightly different batch of seasonings.

Lynn also made a batch of her Boston Cream MaryAnn’s. We can’t make these too often as the calorie content is so high we would end up having to run a marathon, (or two), in between meals.

More running and workouts

We’ve been continuing with our workout schedule, still running outside although I moved indoors to a treadmill last couple of days since the snow was so deep on the roads that the only way I could have run was in snowshoes. Snowball got a Christmas present. She likes to run with Lynn but she is so hard to see at night we got her a lighted harness. It is made by the same company that makes my lighted running vest except hers is rechargeable.

Lynn is back to her sewing

We got Lynn all set up so she could continue working on her quilt blocks. She doesn’t have a lot of time to do this during the school year so she has been trying to get caught up with some of her projects.

More snow

Lots of snow in the last few days with more to come if the forecasts are to be believed. I spent a few hours yesterday clearing the driveway and the area around the house. Woke up this morning and overnight we had just as much snow as I had spent all day moving. I went over and did my Sunday long run on the treadmill at the pool. Came back, got a quick lunch and headed back out to move snow again. Just before I headed over to the pool we lost internet. The snow was so deep up on the roof where the satellite antenna is mounted that was blocking the signal. Once I was done clearing the driveway I spent a little time clearing that out and all is well again.

New Years eve coming up

Tomorrow is New Years eve, I am working and about the only plans we have other than making another moose roast is to possibly go see the annual fireworks show put on by our radio station. Until next time I hope everyone has a happy New Year. Be safe and stay warm!
