After a long spell of unseasonably warm temperatures we finally got down to -29F this weekend which is a lot closer to normal for this time of year. Saturday I waited till it warmed up to -21F before I did my run and as usual I overdressed and was actually getting pretty warm by the time I finished. My Sunday run was done at a scorching -9F but the wind out of the north made up for the warmer temperatures. School is proceeding as normal coming into the Christmas and New Year break. Students finish classes this Wednesday but Lynn still has to work on Thursday.
Galena Christmas Carnival
The swim team sold soup and bread at the Christmas Carnival to raise money for travel to swim meets. Lynn and I tried out a new chicken soup recipe in our instant pot. Must have been good since it sold out quickly. Lots of moose soup, and salmon chowder was on hand. Lynn made her chocolate babka and zucchini bread. We also had corn muffins and cornbread as well. It was all good but I had to decline since I had a long training run right after the carnival. There were also games for the kids to play. I’ve tried to include a few shots to show what was happening.
Well, thats about all I have this week. As usual Lynn and I have been keeping up with our swimming, running and strength training. Snowball has been running with Lynn a few times. We always end up running in the dark either before or after work so we have ordered a lighted walking harness for Snowball. Black dogs are pretty hard to see at night. Coming up on the shortest day of the year. I have been wanting to post some photos of the northern lights but every time they are active we have heavy cloud cover. I’ll keep trying. In the mean time I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
