When I ask people why they don’t want to visit in the winter they invariably say among other things that it is far to cold here in the fall and winter. I just checked the weather and noticed that Alma and Fort Smith are 6 degrees colder than we are. Portland is 1 degree colder. Warm weather creates its own problems though. Since we have a layer of snow and ice on the roads the warm air puts a slick glaze of ice on the roads and walking trails. You have to leave your vehicle in four-wheel drive and walking is very difficult.
