The barge arrived early this afternoon and we now have our truck at home. I had planned to take the boat out this morning but decided to wait since the barge would have the landing blocked until late in the evening. This is a fairly typical load for this particular company. About a quarter of… Continue reading Our truck has arrived!

Back to work
I got back to Galena last Sunday and Lynn got back yesterday. Snowball seemed happy that we came home. It has been raining on and off since I got back but that’s normal for this time of year. The barge came in yesterday, I didn’t have my truck to the barge landing in time for… Continue reading Back to work
Anchorage to Fairbanks
We drove from Anchorage to Fairbanks today. Still couldn’t see Denali on the way up as it was cloudy and raining most of the way. There was quite a bit of road construction from Cantwell to Nenana so that part of the trip was pretty slow. We have a few things to do tomorrow morning… Continue reading Anchorage to Fairbanks
Matanuska Glacier
This morning we drove up to the Matanuska Glacier on the Glenn Highway. It was a very nice drive with almost no traffic. Tomorrow morning we head back up to Fairbanks and Friday I will drop the truck off at the barge landing.
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

Afterward we went around looking for some good shots of Denali. It is still covered in clouds but maybe I’ll get a… Continue reading Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center
Homer
Lynn had never been to Homer so we decided to go see what was down there. Also, one of our teachers fishes commercially during the spring and summer and operates his boat out of Homer. They were finishing up some maintenance on the boat while we were there and are getting ready to head out… Continue reading Homer
Volcanoes
On our way to Homer we got to see two of the many volcanoes in Alaska. Mt Redoubt last erupted in 2009 and disrupted air traffic for quite some time.
Anchorage Market and Beluga point

After lunch we decided to drive up to Beluga Point for some pictures. It was really windy and I had to brace myself to keep… Continue reading Anchorage Market and Beluga point
